Sydney Metro

Sydney, Australia

Seven stations for an extension of the Sydney Metro, involving a tunnel beneath the city’s harbour.

The design include stations at Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Martin Place, Pitt Street, Waterloo, and Barangaroo. Notably, Barangaroo. The extension project aimed to stretch the Sydney Metro northwest, traversing under Sydney Harbour and past the iconic Opera House, ultimately connecting to the city’s central business district.

This initiative formed part of a comprehensive overhaul of Sydney’s transport system, with a commitment to adding 66 kilometers of track by the year 2024. As articulated by a spokesperson for Transport for NSW at the time, “Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest transport project – 31 stations and 66 kilometers of new metro rail for Australia’s biggest city,” and includes the delivery of seven new metro stations across North Sydney and the Sydney CBD.
